Privacy Policy
Last updated: September 2026
Trivent operates an online platform that connects people travelling to the same event so they can arrange shared Trips. This policy explains what personal information we collect through the app and this website, why we collect it, who we share it with, and the choices and rights you have. It describes our intended practices; where a feature is not yet live, the related processing only begins when that feature is released.
Note. Draft for legal review. This document has been prepared as a working draft and has not yet been reviewed by a qualified lawyer. Governing law and dispute-resolution provisions are marked as pending because Trivent's operating jurisdictions have not been confirmed. It should be reviewed by counsel familiar with the jurisdictions where Trivent operates before real users are onboarded or real payments are processed.
1. Who we are
Trivent is the operator of the Trivent app and website and acts as the controller of the personal information described here. If you need to reach us about privacy, use the contact form on our home page or email hello@trivent.app.
2. Account information
When you create an account we collect your name, email address, phone number, password credentials, profile photo, and any preferences you set. This is needed to give you an account, let other users recognise you, and secure access.
3. Location information
We collect pickup and drop-off points you enter, and — only if you turn it on — device location while a Trip is being planned or is in progress. Precise location is used for matching, navigation-related features, and live Trip status. You can withdraw device-location permission at any time in your device settings; some features will then be limited.
4. Driver's License and identity verification data
If you apply to become a Triver, we collect identity and Driver's License details and, where required, images of your documents and a selfie. Verification may be carried out by a specialist third-party provider acting on our behalf. We keep the outcome of a verification check and limited reference data; we do not use these documents for any purpose other than verification, fraud prevention, safety, and legal compliance.
5. Vehicle information
For Trivers we collect vehicle make, model, colour, registration or plate details, seat count, and documents you supply relating to the vehicle. Trippers on a confirmed Trip see the details needed to identify the vehicle at the pickup point.
6. Trip and event information
We collect the events you follow or search for, Trips you post or join, routes, timings, seats, cancellations, ratings, and reviews. This information is used to run the marketplace, resolve disputes, and improve matching.
7. Messages and attachments
In-app messages between Trippers and Trivers, along with any attachments, are transmitted through and stored on our systems. We may review message content where necessary to investigate a report, prevent fraud or abuse, or comply with a legal obligation. Please do not share sensitive information through in-app chat.
8. Payment information
Card and payment-method details are collected and processed by our payment provider, not by Trivent. We receive and store payment metadata such as the amount, currency, status, timestamps, a payment reference, and the last digits and brand of the card. We use this to confirm bookings, split fares, issue refunds, and meet accounting obligations.
9. Payout information
If you receive money as a Triver, our payment provider collects the bank or payout details and any tax or identity information required by law. Trivent receives confirmation of payout status and the records needed for reporting.
10. Emergency contact information
If you choose to add an emergency contact or share a Trip with someone, we store that contact's name and contact details and use them only for the safety feature you enabled. Please make sure the person is comfortable with you sharing their details.
11. Referral information
If you invite someone to Trivent, we process the contact details you provide in order to send the invitation and to attribute any referral reward. Invited people can ask us to delete their details at any time.
12. Technical and usage data
We automatically collect device type, operating system, app version, IP address, approximate location derived from IP, crash reports, and how you use the app and website. This supports security, fraud prevention, debugging, and product improvement.
13. Why we use your information
We use personal information to provide and operate the platform, match Trippers with Trivers, calculate and split fares, run verification and trust-and-safety processes, send Trip and service notifications, provide customer support, detect and prevent fraud and abuse, meet legal obligations, and improve our services. Where the law requires consent — for example for optional analytics or marketing — we ask for it and you can withdraw it at any time.
15. Third-party services
Some features rely on third parties — payment processing, identity verification, maps, ticket links, and app-store distribution. Those providers handle your information under their own terms and privacy notices for anything they do as independent controllers. We choose providers carefully but do not control their independent practices.
16. Data retention
We keep account data while your account is active. Trip, message, and payment records are kept for as long as needed for safety, dispute resolution, accounting, tax, and other legal purposes, and are then deleted or anonymised. Verification records are kept for the period required by the applicable regulations and our fraud-prevention needs. Specific retention periods will be confirmed as part of the legal review noted above.
17. Data security
We use technical and organisational measures including encryption in transit, access controls, least-privilege staff access, and monitoring. No online service can be completely secure, so we cannot guarantee absolute security. If a breach affects your rights, we will notify you and the relevant regulator where the law requires it.
18. International transfers
Our providers may process data in countries other than yours. Where that happens, we rely on lawful transfer mechanisms such as adequacy decisions or standard contractual clauses, together with appropriate safeguards. The precise transfer arrangements depend on the jurisdictions Trivent finally operates in and are pending legal review.
19. Your rights
Depending on where you live, you may have the right to access your data, correct it, delete it, receive a portable copy, restrict or object to certain processing, withdraw consent, and complain to your local data protection authority. Contact us and we will respond within the time the law allows, normally 30 days. Some data must be retained where we have a legal obligation or an overriding legitimate interest, such as fraud prevention.
20. Children
Trivent is not intended for people under 18 and we do not knowingly collect their personal information. If you believe a minor has created an account, contact us and we will investigate and remove it where appropriate.
22. Changes to this policy
We may update this policy as the product and our legal obligations change. Material changes will be announced in the app or by email, and the date at the top of this page will be updated.
23. Contact
Questions, requests, or complaints about privacy: use the contact form on our home page or email hello@trivent.app.
