Terms of Service
Last updated: September 2026
These terms are an agreement between you and Trivent, the operator of the Trivent app and website. By creating an account, posting a Trip, or joining a Trip you accept them. Please read the sections on assumption of risk, limitation of liability, and indemnification carefully, as they affect your legal rights.
Note. Draft for legal review. This document has been prepared as a working draft and has not yet been reviewed by a qualified lawyer. Governing law and dispute-resolution provisions are marked as pending because Trivent's operating jurisdictions have not been confirmed. It should be reviewed by counsel familiar with the jurisdictions where Trivent operates before real users are onboarded or real payments are processed.
1. What Trivent is
Trivent is an online platform that lets people travelling to the same event find each other and arrange to share a Trip and its costs. Trivent provides the technology, matching, messaging, booking records, verification steps, and payment facilitation through a third-party payment provider.
2. What Trivent is not
Trivent does not provide transportation, does not operate vehicles, and does not employ Trivers. Any Trip is an arrangement between the users involved. Trivers are independent individuals sharing costs, not employees, agents, partners, or representatives of Trivent. Trivent makes no claim about transport licensing, insurance cover, or regulatory status beyond what is described in these terms; the treatment of the service under transport regulation in each market is subject to the legal review noted on this page.
3. Eligibility and accounts
You must be at least 18 and legally able to enter this agreement. You agree to give accurate information, keep it current, keep your credentials confidential, and remain responsible for activity on your account. We may suspend or close accounts that breach these terms, create risk for other members, or are required to be closed by law.
4. Triver verification — what it does and does not mean
Becoming a Triver requires completing the verification steps set out in the app, which may include identity and Driver's License checks. Verification supports our trust-and-safety process. It is not a guarantee or endorsement.
- Verification does not guarantee any person's identity, honesty, safety, driving ability, or conduct
- Verification does not guarantee the condition, roadworthiness, or legal status of any vehicle
- Trivent only performs the checks actually described in the app; it does not represent that it carries out criminal background checks or driving-history checks unless the app expressly states that a specific check is part of the process
- Verification status can become out of date between checks
- You must use your own judgement and must not rely on verification alone when deciding whether to offer, accept, or join a Trip
5. Assumption of risk
Sharing travel with other people carries risks that Trivent cannot eliminate. To the extent permitted by applicable law, you acknowledge and voluntarily accept the risks connected with:
- Using the Trivent website and mobile application
- Meeting, communicating, and travelling with other users
- Creating, offering, joining, or taking part in a Trip
- Transportation arranged through the platform, including driving conditions, routes, and road traffic
- Vehicle-related incidents, including collisions, breakdowns, and vehicle condition
- Delays, cancellations, no-shows, or changes to a Trip or to the underlying event
- The conduct of any user, before, during, or after a Trip
- The accuracy and completeness of information provided by users
- Third-party services such as payment processing, mapping, ticketing, and event venues
- Technical faults, downtime, data loss, or interruptions to the platform
6. User safety and personal responsibility
You are responsible for your own safety decisions. Before and during a Trip you should take reasonable precautions, including:
- Reading the Trip details, route, timing, and price carefully before committing
- Considering whether you are comfortable travelling with the other participants
- Confirming the identity of the person you are meeting and, for a Triver, the vehicle and plate
- Checking that the vehicle and the arrangement look appropriate and safe to you
- Wearing a seatbelt and following applicable road-safety and local legal requirements
- Using your own judgement, and declining or leaving a Trip if you feel unsafe
- Contacting emergency services immediately in an emergency, and reporting incidents to us afterwards
7. Triver responsibilities
If you offer a Trip, you are responsible for:
- Providing accurate information about yourself, your vehicle, the route, timing, and available seats
- Holding a valid Driver's License and being legally permitted to carry the passengers you accept
- Maintaining a safe, roadworthy, and legally compliant vehicle
- Holding and maintaining any insurance required by law for the journey you are making, and checking that your cover permits cost-shared travel
- Complying with all applicable traffic, transport, and local laws
- Driving safely, sober, and without unlawful distraction
- Treating Trippers with respect and without discrimination or harassment
- Following Trivent's safety guidelines and community rules
- Only accepting Trips you can reasonably fulfil, and giving prompt notice if plans change
8. Tripper responsibilities
If you join a Trip, you are responsible for:
- Providing accurate account information
- Reviewing the Trip details before booking and asking questions if anything is unclear
- Arriving at the agreed pickup point on time and treating the Triver, the vehicle, and other Trippers with respect
- Following the platform's rules, safety guidelines, and any reasonable request relating to vehicle safety
- Complying with applicable laws during the Trip
- Making your own informed decision about whether to join a Trip
- Understanding that Trivent does not guarantee that a Trip will take place, run on time, or meet your expectations
9. Trips, fares, and payments
Fares shown at booking are cost-sharing contributions divided between seats and are displayed in full before you confirm. Payment is processed by our payment provider; funds are captured when a Trip is confirmed and released to the Triver after completion, subject to the timings shown in the app. Cancellation windows and refund rules are shown before you confirm and form part of these terms. Trivent is not a party to the transportation arrangement and does not guarantee performance by any user.
10. Community rules and prohibited conduct
You must not discriminate, harass, threaten, or endanger others; carry weapons or illegal substances; misrepresent your identity, licence, or vehicle; use the platform for unlicensed commercial passenger transport; take payments outside the app to avoid our rules; scrape, reverse engineer, or interfere with the platform; or use it for any unlawful purpose. We may remove content, restrict features, or close accounts for breaches.
11. Platform disclaimer
The platform is provided on an "as is" and "as available" basis. To the extent permitted by applicable law, and without limiting rights that cannot be excluded, Trivent does not warrant or guarantee:
- That any Trip will be available, offered, or accepted
- The accuracy, completeness, or currency of information provided by users
- The conduct, character, or reliability of any user
- The safety or legality of any Trip or journey
- The condition, roadworthiness, or insurance status of any vehicle
- That a Trip will take place as planned, on time, or at all
- That the platform will be uninterrupted, secure, or free from errors or defects
12. Limitation of liability
Trivent's responsibility is limited to the platform services it actually provides. To the maximum extent permitted by applicable law:
- Trivent is not liable for the acts or omissions of any user, including anything that happens before, during, or after a Trip
- Trivent is not liable for indirect, incidental, special, consequential, punitive, or exemplary damages, or for loss of profit, revenue, data, goodwill, or missed events, however caused
- Trivent is not liable for matters outside its reasonable control, including road conditions, weather, vehicle failure, third-party services, event changes, or acts of public authorities
- Trivent's total aggregate liability for all claims relating to the platform in any 12-month period is limited to the greater of the total service fees you paid to Trivent in that period or USD 100, except where a higher amount is required by law
- Nothing in these terms limits or excludes liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence, for fraud or fraudulent misrepresentation, or for any other liability that cannot lawfully be limited or excluded. If your local law gives you rights or guarantees that cannot be excluded, those rights continue to apply and these limits apply only to the extent that law allows
13. Protected parties
The disclaimers, limitations of liability, and indemnity in these terms apply for the benefit of Trivent and, to the same extent and only in connection with the operation of the platform, its founder, owners, directors, officers, employees, contractors, affiliates, and service providers. These provisions do not protect any of those parties from liability that cannot lawfully be excluded or limited, or from their own fraud, wilful misconduct, or, where the law so requires, gross negligence.
14. Indemnification
To the extent permitted by applicable law, you agree to indemnify, defend, and hold harmless Trivent and the protected parties listed above from claims, liabilities, damages, losses, and reasonable legal costs arising from:
- Your use of the platform
- Your conduct before, during, or after a Trip
- Your breach of these terms or of Trivent's guidelines
- Your breach of any applicable law or third-party right
- Any dispute, arrangement, or agreement between you and another user
15. Reporting incidents and disputes between users
Disputes about a Trip are primarily between the users involved. We provide reporting tools, may investigate, and may take action on accounts, but we do not act as an arbitrator of user disputes and are not obliged to resolve them. Report safety incidents to the emergency services first, then to us through the app or the contact form.
16. Content you provide
You keep ownership of the content you post. You grant Trivent a non-exclusive, worldwide, royalty-free licence to host, store, display, and use it as needed to operate and promote the platform. You are responsible for having the rights to any content you upload.
17. Suspension and termination
You may close your account at any time. We may suspend or terminate access where you breach these terms, where required by law, or to protect users or the platform. Provisions that by their nature should survive — including liability limits, indemnity, and dispute provisions — continue after termination.
18. Governing law and dispute resolution — pending confirmation
The governing law and dispute-resolution mechanism for these terms have not yet been finalised, because Trivent's operating and incorporation jurisdictions are still being confirmed. This section will be completed on legal advice before incorporation, and will preserve any mandatory rights you have under the law of your country of residence, including the right to bring proceedings in your local courts where the law requires it. Until then, nothing here should be read as a waiver of those rights.
19. Severability and entire agreement
If any provision is found unenforceable, it will be modified to the minimum extent necessary or removed, and the remaining provisions stay in force. These terms, together with the Privacy Policy and any rules shown in the app, form the whole agreement between you and Trivent about the platform.
20. Changes to these terms
We may update these terms as the product, our operations, and the law change. Material changes will be announced in the app or by email before they take effect. Continuing to use the platform after an update means you accept the revised terms; if you do not accept them, stop using the platform and close your account.
21. Contact and effective date
These terms take effect on the date shown at the top of this page. Questions about them: use the contact form on our home page or email hello@trivent.app.
